HCOS Learning Outcomes for Fine Arts, Physical Education and Personal Planning

Because we are an Independent School we are able to develop our own approach and learning outcomes for Fine Arts and Physical Education from Kindergarten to Grade Nine. Our teachers are still responsible to ensure that these subjects are being covered and for assessment. Parents students will include learning samples, logs or other forms of evidence of learning in their Student Portfolio.

Note that students in Grades 10-12 must follow the Provincial Learning Outcomes for these subjects. In the new 2004 Graduation Program the courses that are required in these areas are: Planning 10, Graduation Portfolio, Physical Education 10 and a Fine Arts or Applied Skills Course. Theses courses can still be accomplished within an Individualized Approach.

Fine Arts

HCOS Fine Arts Goals and Learning Outcomes for Grades K to 9 - It is our goal, purpose and expectation for students to develop their individual potential in their area of interest. Our students will choose one facet of Fine Art to pursue. This honours the fact that God created all of our students uniquely and allows our students to explore the gifts that God gave them in more depth. We expect that our students will gain broad exposure to all four elements of Fine Arts while diligently pursuing their chosen area of interest.
