Learning Outcomes & Portfolio Submissions
This page shows the BC Provincial Learning Outcomes translated and represented in languge suited for
the Home Educator for Grades Kindergarten to Nine.
The following documents are in a user-friendly language for the Home Educator. These will help you to match your program to the BC Educational Plan. Keep in mind that it is the job of HCOS Teacher to discover the Provincial Learning Outcomes (PLO) in your program. We don't want you, as a Home Educator, to be burdened with the task of matching PLOs. This is our role a teachers. The language of the HCOS Learning Outcomes is specific to skills, tasks, projects and activities. We are hopeful that as you and your teacher design your student's learning plan, these outcomes will help guide you in your choice of program and provide additional information in ways you can supplement your student's curriculum.
Each Grade will have a summary of what the curriculum will need to cover to meet the HCOS Outcomes and a list of Portfolio Submissions that will represent work samples for your Individualized Teacher.

- Grade 7 -- Ancient History/Early Civilizations Creation to 500 A.D.
- Grade 8 -- Civilizations from 500 to 1600 A.D.
- Grade 9 -- Europe and North America from 1500 to 1815
